Dr. Tanya Manikkam ND is one of Ottawa’s leading BHRT prescribers. She has done extensive training through the American Academy of Anti-Aging Medicine in the United States and has worked along side NAMS certified pharmacists for 6 years.

BHRT is the medical practice of prescribing bio-identical hormones to women to help ease menopausal symptoms. Dr. Tanya can prescribe progesterone and/or estrogen to women in need.

Currently, anti-depressants and sleeping medications are the common treatments for menopause which includes but is not limited to:

  • Hot flashes
  • Depression
  • Insomnia
  • Anxiety
  • Incontinence
  • Vaginal Dryness
  • Brain Fog
  • Weight Gain
  • Poor Memory
  • Heart Disease
  • Osteoporosis

Giving a woman anti-depressants or sleeping medication will not fix all of the symptoms mentioned above but might act as a band-aid for some. Denying a woman hormones during menopause is a tragedy.

To qualify for BHRT, patients must undergo the following:

  1. Initial Consultation
  2. Hormone Testing
  3. Follow-up testing and consults every 3-6 months to adjust hormone dosages.
  4. Yearly breast imaging
  5. Transvaginal Ultrasound every 2 years.
